Cheesemaking at Home
$45. Barbara Levin of Hope Farm, a cheesemaker and sheep farmer, leads a hands-on introductory class at Northwoods, covering preparation of soft cheeses, proper kitchen sanitation, choosing milk products, and of course, cheese tasting. Bring a Tupperware or yogurt container to take your cheese home. Registration required.

NEK Snowmobile Drag Racing
Registration 8:30 am. Races start at 9:45 am. $20 entry + $10 insurance fee, general admission $5. We partner with NEK Drag Racing to bring you head to head racing on a 660’ track located on Rte 114N in Lyndonville. The track is accessible by snowmobile via VAST Corridor #52 between Lyndonville and East Burke. These events truly spark the camaraderie shared by those who love the sport of snowmobiling and drag racing competition. Prize money, trophies, hot dogs, burgers, and lots of fun!

Center Pond by Moonlight
$10. The ponds of the Northeast Kingdom come alive with light and shadow under a winter full moon. Northwoods staff will lead a snowshoe tour to Center Pond, located in Newark. A gradual half-mile woods trail leads to the pond, a beginner-friendly tour to test snowshoes, winter legs, and explore the winter world. Meet at Northwoods. Snowshoes available to rent. Meet at the Center. Bring a small backpack with warm layers, and hydration. Registration required.

2012 Newport Penguin Plunge
Are you brave enough to take the icy dip?! Join over one hundred brave participants as they jump into the freezing waters of Lake Memphremagog to raise money and awareness for the 1,005 athletes of Special Olympics Vermont.
Form a team with your family, friends, co-workers, teammates or classmates or plunge solo. Participants arrive in a array of fun costumes or team t-shirts and prizes are awarded for highest fundraiser, largest team, largest school group and best costume.

Game of Logging Chainsaw Safety Training - Levels 3 & 4
$150 per level. Building on the skills from Levels 1 & 2, these workshops will include dealing with difficult trees, job planning, harvesting operations, and because of the spring flooding this year, Level 4 will also include information on storm damage cleanup for landowners. Skier/Border Cross at Jay Peak
Competitors ski/snowboard down the course, which is built to encompass both naturally occurring terrain and artificial features like jumps, rollers, and banks. Men and women skiers/snowboarders compete in a knockout (KO)-style series in rounds of four. A group of four race at a time.

Kingdom Coffeehouse: The Sky Blue Boys
