An Evening with Keller Williams at Jay Peak
Since he first appeared on the scene in the early ’90s, Williams has defined the term independent artist. And his recordings tell only half the story. Keller built his reputation initially on his engaging live performances, no two of which are ever alike. For most of his career he has performed as a one-man band—his stage shows are constructed around Keller singing his compositions and choice cover songs while accompanying himself on an acoustic guitar connected to a Gibson Echoplex delay system that allows him to simulate a full band. That approach, Williams explains, was derived from “hours of playing solo with just a guitar and a microphone, and then wanting to go down different avenues musically. I couldn’t afford humans and didn’t want to step into the cheesy world of automated sequencers where you hit a button and the whole band starts to play, then you’ve got to solo along or sing on top of it. I wanted something more organic yet with a dance groove that I could create myself.”
General Admission Tickets: $30
VIP Tickets: $75 Includes preferred viewing area, private bar, complimentary drink tickets (3), meet and greet with Keller Williams and passed appetizers. VIP room opens at 7:00p.

Stepping Out
Friday and Saturday shows at 7:30pm and Sunday show at 2:00pm
Tickets: $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and students
Every Thursday, in a dusty church basement, a well-intentioned but not overly talented group of Londoners meet for tap class—all brought together out of the desire to dance as if no one is watching, and, hopefully, no one ever will!
That is, until they’re invited to perform for charity. As disbelief is replaced by sheer terror, can this bunch of amateurs pull together and put on the performance of a lifetime? Well, sometimes—and perhaps more often than you suspect—you can be the wrong person in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong colleagues all trying to accomplish something entirely out of your range and, just for a fleeting moment, find glory in coming together to try.

DAVID KRAUS & JOHN LaRUCHE play at THE MUSIC BOX
$10 general, $8 students and seniors, kids free. David has been exploring the mysteries of music since the age of eight. An avid student of all things musical, he has merged his background in jazz and classical music with a fascination for the sounds of non-Western cultures. He composes and arranges for jazz ensembles, his world fusion ensemble, the classical and jazz guitar, and has written music for a number of documentary films. David’s most recent CD of original classical pieces for solo guitar, Between Silence, was released in October 2010. He was also the musical co-writer and conductor for "The Heart Of the Mountain", a musical stage play that performed concerts in the US and in Europe teaming up with young choirs from Russia to sing a message of compassion and peace during the demise of a cold war. Hear some tunes at www.davidkrausguitarist.com He is joined by John LaRuche, who is probably the most versatile chromatic harmonica in Vermont. You can see a You Tube video of him with David performing at Catamount Arts Jazz on a Sunday Afternoon series at this link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOZkJfRScPA. One of his fans writes, “John LaRouche is truly legendary. His father described his musical abilities to me and he was not exaggerating one bit. Here's a man unknown to most who ought to be world famous. So many people with great musical gifts are overlooked.” John’s music journey began at age 9 when he stated playing viola in the school orchestra. He played viola and sang in the choir throughout grade school and in junior high school continued his music study on the viola. At age 12 he received an antique echo harp harmonica from his father and immediately fell in love with it. For the next few years he continued to play trying out different diatonic harmonicas, and then heard a jazz record with harmonica great Toots Thielemans. After hearing Toots, he went out immediately and bought a chromatic harmonica. In 1980 John studied with classical harmonica virtuoso Cham-Ber Huang. After which, he studied with famed cornet player Bobby Bradford, former member of the Ornette Coleman band. John started performing at age 18. He formerly taught harmonica at Johnson state College and now gives private lessons. In recent years he has performed with Bobby Bradford and the great pianist John Coates Jr. John stated playing wooden flute 6 years ago. He continues to play in various blues and jazz bands in cental Vermont. He began playing with master guitarist David Kraus 6 years ago. John’s influences include: Little Walter, Stevie Wonder, Toots Thielemans, Carlos Nakai, and Charlie Parker among others. John Currently lives in east Calais Vermont.

P.J. Hammond Art Gallery open for Open Studios Weekend
My gallery will be open those days and by appointment other times. I am an artist who has traveled 5 times to Alaska. Four times my husband drove from Newport and the last time I flew in with a woman friend and we rented a motorhome in Anchorage and drove everywheres. My first exhibition was in Iceland and I have had many since then in the U.S. and Canada. My travel and painting has also included Egypt, Newfoundland, St Croix, the Florida swamps. Work from some these areas can be seen in my Lake Rd. gallery as well a new work Also you can still buy my book "Traveling with Wildflowers from Newfoundland to Alaska" in my gallery. This book has led me to be a speaker in many places even as far away as Denali, Alaska and St. Johns.

Vermont Open Studios Weekend
Most Vermont craftspeople work in studios located in or close to their residences. These are places of production and inspiration located in downtowns as well as at the ends of dirt roads. Wherever their locations, they are exciting places to visit because they reflect the dynamic yet organized process that is used to produce the finished work of art.
The studio itself is enormously informative because you can see at a glance how the artist works. You see the swatches that have not been chosen for the quilt or the work that is experimental or not serious enough for the gallery. Buying or ordering work during an Open Studio sale is a unique experience because you have the opportunity to speak to the artist directly.
The Open Studio Weekend was named one of the Top Ten Summer Events in a competition sponsored by the Vermont Chamber of Commerce in 1997.
