"I selected the "I Hate to Ski" weekend and then added a ski afternoon for my husband. That provided us a sleigh ride, massages and a chilled bottle of white plus he got to ski while I read by the fire sipping hot chocolate with marshmallows and a cinnamon stick. I think I may have had a rich brownie and/or an oatmeal cookie too! It was a fabulous weekend!"

Winter in Vermont

Most people think of Vermont as a wonderful place to spend their winter vacation. And they are right, it is. Vermont is a place of warmth and beauty in the winter that emits a feeling of "Home".

It's a place time has forgotten.

It's a place where you put aside the demands of a busy life and take a more leisurely view of the world.

It is time to sit by the fire and enjoy mulled apple cider or hot chocolate and freshly baked goodies while catching up with friends.

For those who are want to be active, it is a wonderland of winter sports – downhill or cross country skiing, snowshoeing, skating, ice fishing, and so much more!

It’s a time to build snowmen and marvel at the winter landscape - the frozen ponds and streams, the snow covered hills, and the monster icicles! The Vermonter’s have learned that playing in the snow is more than sport – it is annual celebration of life!

What's the Weather Today?

With an annual average snowfall of 355 inches, Jay Peak Resort is most reliable, snowiest mountain not only in Vermont but also in the eastern United States! You can check Jay Peak Ski Conditions by visiting Jay Peak's Website, and check the local weather conditions below. See you on the slopes!

About Jay Peak Resort

Mother Nature is very good to Jay Peak. Because of the mountain’s unique location and geographical features, Jay Peak gets more snow than anywhere else in New England (twice as much as many resorts). Put that together with their 2,000-ft. vertical, massive glade system and the only aerial tram in Vermont, and you have one very unique resort.

So whether you like downhill skiing, cross country skiing or snowboarding, Jay Peak Resort has it all.  In addition, the resort is currently undergoing a major expansion, and has just completed the first step with the building of a world class championship golf course. The expansion is continuing with the replacement and expansion of its hotel, the construction of a new golfing club house, an indoor water park, and an indoor ice rink. Their plan is to complete all improvements by 2012.

To reach the resort, head toward the Baptist Church (visible at the end of the street from the Phineas Swann) on 118 to Rte 242, and turn left. The resort entrance, which is clearly marked, is 7 ½ miles from the intersection of Rte 118 and Rte 242.

To learn more about skiing and snowboarding at Jay Peak, visit our Jay Peak Skiing page.
