Dog Friendly Reviews
Thinking about traveling to the Phineas Swann Inn & Spa with your dog? Wondering what it will be like? We’re happy to share some of the many, many guest reviews we have received regarding our dog-friendly lodging and the experience of traveling to the Phineas Swann with your fur-baby. “We decided on a last minute Easter weekend get away. Considering it was last minute and Easter we knew it would be nigh impossible to get someone to watch our 2 dogs for us. So we decided to google “dog friendly bed and breakfast new england” and as luck would have it the Phineas Swann was the first to come up. This is not a place that tolerates dogs; they celebrate them. We took the first floor of the River house and we found: dog beds, dog treats, dog dishes, dog tie outs, gates, etc. They were happy (for a modest fee) to dog sit an entire day while we went out and about. Dogs were allowed on the couch and bed with us and do everything that they would at home to help us relax. Wonderful experience.”

“We recently spent 2 nights at the Phineas Swan B&B. From the moment of our arrival until our departure, all aspects of our stay were first rate. The room amenities (including treats for our Labrador Retreiver), ensured that all family members thoroughly enjoyed their stay. We can’t wait for a return visit!”

“Phineas Swann exceeded both our “dog-friendly” and “people-friendly” expectations on all counts. Our two Golden Retrievers were greeted and welcomed by Jenny first thing, and the Terrier Suite was all set up with dog beds, bowls, chews, and a crock of dog biscuits waiting. She offered to walk our dogs for us if we were planning to be gone for the day, and showed us where the poop bags and dog towels were on the way out the back to the quiet street and big open fields beyond where we could walk our dogs.
“For ourselves, we loved the in-room Keurig with lots of options, the complimentary popcorn, snacks and soft drinks and the self-serve wine and beer bar. The microwave, mini-fridge and DVD library came in handy, too and the bed, linens and pillows were oh so luxurious! Everywhere you look, inside and out the inn is filled with fascinating antiques…everything from furniture to birdhouses, tobacco tins to farm implements, and lots and lots of dog figurines. Jay and John are most gracious hosts and their homemade breakfasts were scrumptious (and sumptuous!) We enjoyed meeting other guests and swapping stories of the days activities and adventures around Vermont. Montgomery Center is a charming little town and we walked up the street to Bernie’s one night for a delicious Mexican dinner. The well-stocked grocery store is just up the street, too and Montgomery Adventures (where we enjoyed a dogsled ride) is 3.5 miles away.
Phineas Swann is a real gem…THANK YOU for our wonderful getaway up north!”

“We totally enjoyed our stay at this beautiful bed and breakfast. Jay couldn’t have been nicer and more welcoming. We stayed on the first floor in the house out back that sits right on the river. Our Golden, Riley loved going for a swim and fetching sticks for us. All the comforts of home, they had everything you could possibly need. Breakfasts were absolutely delicious and there was plenty of food to go around. We would totally stay there again when back in VT! Highly recommend to others with pets.”
