Dining
Whether it’s a gourmet breakfast at the Main Inn, a dinner out in the Jay Peak area, or one of our pop-up PhinDinn gourmet dinners, each meal meal during your stay at our Vermont B&B is sure to be memorable.
Occasionally our guests have specific dietary needs, allergies or preferences. Often other establishments see this as impossible, or an inconvenience. We see it as another opportunity to provide exceptional customer service.
Here are some of the areas where we are able to provide an outstanding breakfast for any guest. When you book, please let us know of any special menu adjustments that we should make. Regardless, we always offer eggs made to order in place of our menu item of the day.
- Gluten-Free: We offer gluten-free versions of our pancakes, waffles and other baked goods. When requesting a gluten-free menu, please advise whether you’re simply intolerant, or whether you suffer from a more severe restriction such as Celiac Disease. For the latter, we have a much more stringent protocol to avoid cross-contamination.
- Lactose-Intolerant/Dairy Free: We have almond milk and soy milk available and for use in our recipes.
- Vegetarian/Vegan: Our menus are easily adapted to vegetarian, vegan or pescatorian needs. We even offer a veggie sausage that draws raves!
- Diabetic: We can prepare special low-sugar dishes for diabetic guests, and even offer sugar-free syrup for those who want to enjoy our Vermont specialties with some maple syrup.
- Nut Allergies: We use no nuts in any of our cooking or baking. That said, please make sure we know if anyone in your party has a nut allergy, as many of the snacks found around the inn have nuts.

- Phineas Gourmet Dinners
At Phineas Swann Inn & Spa, we prepare hot breakfasts that will tempt even the most seasoned breakfast-skippers to indulge. Breakfast is served to guests in our glass-enclosed dining porch, and in the summer, on our sunny back deck overlooking the gardens. In the morning, these areas are flooded with sunlight, and you can easily view the birds at the many birdfeeders.
Each morning at 8 am (7:30 am during ski season), we cover them with huge helpings of breads, cereals, juices, yogurt, coffee, and tea, and a large selection of fresh-cut fruit for those who want to get an early start – perhaps to hit the slopes in winter, or bike and hike in the summer.
After sampling selections from our sideboard, guests enjoy a hot country breakfast item from our kitchen. Our specialties include blackberry-stuffed French toast, huge country omelets stuffed with Vermont cheddar cheese, strawberry waffles, and our famous blueberry pancakes made from scratch. We use only the freshest ingredients in our breakfasts, and we’ve made a concerted effort to have them locally sourced whenever possible. When you visit, you’ll get to savor blueberries picked just down the road, Lynne’s homemade bread, eggs from chickens a few miles away, and plenty of pure Vermont maple syrup from one of our local sugarhouses.
